CRAWLSPACE BELOW GRADE
RAISING GRADE:
Raising the grade in a crawl space is the process of dropping stones throughout the crawl space to even out the grade within. This helps diffuse any odors within the crawl space and improves drainage.
The purpose of raising the grade in the crawl space is so that the water will drain out of the crawl space when a flood or heavy rain occurs that would normally settle in the crawl space causing a moisture buildup that can result in structural damage. Raising the grade in some crawl spaces can prove to be very beneficial to some properties to help reduce moisture buildup and help keep the crawl space dry.
By doing so can help lower flood insurance which can prove to be a beneficial economically wise and comfort wise by helping to reduce foul odors due from moisture buildup rising from the crawl space.
