DEHUMIDIFIERS:

 

Dehumidifiers are excellent for moisture control especially in a basement or a crawlspace where the relative humidity within is above 60%.  Left for extended periods of time, mold, mildew, and bacteria growth is stimulated producing various allergens and musty odors. 

 

According to the American Lung Association, American Medical Association, and the EPA recommend maintaining relative humidity level in the 30% - 50% range.  Often the only way to maintain the EPA’s recommended humidity levels for homes is 50% RH (relative humidity) or less year round is with the addition of a high capacity, high efficiency dehumidifier.  The capacity of Santa Fe Dehumidifiers is 90 pints of water per day, where most standard residential units range from 20 to 65 pints per day.

How It Works

Dehumidifiers regulate humidity by removing moisture from the air; creating living spaces that are

comfortable and inhospitable to dust mites, mold and other allergens.

 

How Dehumidification Works

 

• First, the humid air is pulled into the dehumidifier through the high-efficiency air filter

 

• It then passes over the evaporator coil. The cold surface of the evaporator coil combined with the

       humid air forces water to come condense and form water droplets on the coil.

 

• This water then drops into the drain pan and runs out of the dehumidifier through the drain tube.

 

• The now cold dry air goes over the condenser coils and is heated, and the warm dry air is now supplied to the basement or crawl space.
